Having followed the Moos trails scene for a number of years and featuring the spot on the site, I was excited about finally paying a visit. On the drive up I listened to Dirt Wars founder Cliff rant about certain pro and well known riders and his comical impressions of the Mother land. After a visit to the Stares residence and an introduction to the numerous guns and knives sprawled around their home we met the other locals and rolled our bikes through the woods. We were shown round the trails before Danny Pace proved he could flip anything, from a BMX to Rob Newman’s bike with 23” bars, straight off, with no warm up.

It took me a while to get familiar with the trails and reframe from jumping past landings but Rob, being Rob, rode everything with no trouble until he hit a jump that unknown to him at the time, he Guinea pigged. A nose dive to flat was the outcome and a bruised thigh, bent wheel and twisted fork was the result. He was lucky to walk away relatively unharmed. I learnt that double whips on a trick jump are more fashionable than flowing through a set of trails but fortunately Newman (after I trued his wheel) and local trails boss Ashley Stares were up for doing a few trains for the camera. Newman then decided he was too broken to ride and it was time to leave. After an incredibly longer than necessary route back to the car (the downhill section made up for it though) we made the long journey back to Devon.
