Location

The trails are situated in Abbaretz, which is on the French North-West coast between Rennes and Nantes. With GPS you can find this little town easily. To find the spot look for the highest hill in all the area (it's really easy as there is just one hill in a 50km radius) and here you are!

History of your trails

The Moon has a well known history in the French dirt jumping scene. Locals started digging something like 12 years ago! There was a strong local scene for a long time, then most of the locals stopped riding the trails because of job or family commitments, and others moved. One guy remained, often shredding the jumps alone. Five years ago four friends, Julien, Julien, Markus and myself, who came to Nantes for studies or jobs, started digging. It felt so good to be digging this perfect dirt where our local idols rode before (see top right video at bottom of page).

There are no contests here because of the soft dirt which needs lots of maintenance, but every time we ride here we have a good time. It's why we dig isn't it?

Describe your trails:

Our trails are made of soft dirt which is really fragile in Summer, but so perfect in Winter! We have three different lines.

The old line has six jumps. It looks easy but the lips are really steep and you can go super high on every jump!

The big line also has super steep transitions. You can easily get a couple seconds air time.

And finally the newest line, which is really technical with very progressive jumps size, berms, rollers and more. You can split at the beginning and in the middle of the line to other lines on the side. It's the line we ride the most.

Now we are working on two return lines with tricky jumps and big jumps.

Main diggers/locals:

There are five of us who dig here. The four of us and Gael, the guy who was digging and riding on his own before we came.

Updates/changes for 2013:

The two return lines.

Long term trails/digging goals:

We are going to rebuild the ’old line’ for more flow.

I would like to ride your trails. Are they open to the public or private/invite only? Is there a local I can contact to ask to ride? And does it matter whether I ride a BMX or a MTB?

The jumps are open to everyone (BMX or MTB) as long as you respect the trails. Bring your shovel, spend time digging the jumps and leave the place as clean as you found it. We are fighting with some dudes who don't understand the words shovel and dig... The dirt is so soft that you have to rebuild the jumps a couple times during a session.

If you want to make a road trip leave a message on our Facebook page, we will be pleased to ride with you.

Nearby spots:

There are a lot of trails around! The LPU trails close to Saint Nazaire, Section Trail in Nantes, and spots in South Britanny... We have a strong trail riding community around.

Any jams or contests going on at your trails this year?

Not at our trails, even if we like to make some jams with our friends, there is nothing very concrete. But on the others we organise each years the Breizh World Tour, it's like your King of Dirt or Dirt Wars... Contests on different trails, at the end the is one winner!

Anything else you’d like to add?

Thanks to my trails-mates for what we have made and are going to build, to all the others diggers around, and you for the questions!
